In this one-hour webinar, presented by Dr Astrid Breel and Jack Roscoe, Tech Champion for Audience Data Collection and Evaluation, we’ll look at some creative methods for evaluation. Traditional surveys don’t always work well in every creative or cultural project or setting. Engaging audiences with lengthy, extractive research methods can create friction that reduces representation and the quality of feedback and reflection. Dr Astrid Breel’s work on the Emergent Value project aims to put participants at the centre of evaluation. Through playful, imaginative and engaging activities, creative evaluation embeds data collection more naturally within an experience – creating space for audiences to define what is most meaningful for them, and to engage on their terms. Alongside practical advice and key learning takeaways, we’ll explore case studies with creative data collection methods to get your brain whirring with ideas for your own evaluations.

You will learn:

  • Four key design principles for any creative evaluation approach
  • Ideas from a range of real-life examples in different settings
  • How to create meaningful, reflective spaces within your practice or work that add genuine value for evaluation participants
