Our approach to accessibility
We are keen to make sure that our website is as accessible as possible so everyone can access our services and resources.
We are always looking for opportunities to make our website easier to use. Our website was built in 2019 and we are currently updating it to make some adjustments to the way it looks and performs.
We are working with our web design agency and an access consultant to make these changes and improvements over the next six months.
Known issues
Whilst we work towards these changes, we are aware of a few areas that may present barriers. These include:
- Some form labels are missing
- Some placeholder and error message text on the forms is low contrast and is in a small font size format
- There are some elements like buttons or form field descriptions that may not work very well with screen readers
- Some pages may be missing heading labels
- Some PDF downloads may not be accessible as we work through them to check for accessibility
Our site currently has the following features:
- Flexible layout that is responsive, so it works equally on computers, phones and tablets.
- Making good use of headings, and white space, to make content easier to read.
- Consistent navigation structure, that uses simple language so you can find you way around the website.
- Using colours that provide good contrast combinations.
- Using captions on all videos.
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility and defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.
The Digital Culture Network website strives to meet WCAG 2.1 level AA standards. We are working with Accessible by Design to help us formally evaluate the content and help us spot opportunities for improvements.

Webinar tickets are booked via the Eventbrite website. You can view their accessibility statement here.
Our webinars are held via Zoom, and BSL and live captions are provided. Presentation slides are sent to attendees before the event.
