Jack specialises in the operational elements of audience research - data collection and fieldwork, encompassing online and face-to-face methods as well as other tools and approaches. He brings experience on a range of topics throughout the research process - from methodologies and sampling, survey design, data quality processes, GDPR and personal data, as well as providing engaging training for interviewers and on managing fieldwork. Based in the Manchester office, Jack offers Audience Data Collection and Evaluation support to creative and cultural organisations across England.
I have come from the market research sector with a focus on cultural and heritage organisations. I’ve worked in varied roles from on the ground as a face-to-face interviewer to overall responsibility for managing a fieldwork department. Working for several years for Morris Hargreaves McIntyre, a specialist arts consultancy and research agency, I’ve been responsible for data collection for hundreds of audience research projects with a wide range of UK and international cultural institutions and organisations.
My highlights include managing the team of face-to-face interviewers conducting year-round audience surveys at Chester Zoo and the London National Museums consortium of some of the UK’s most high-profile museums and galleries; including temporary regional interviewer teams all over the UK for commissions during the 14-18 NOW programme of WW1 centenary artworks and installations.
I also provided training to organisations’ own staff and volunteers to carry out surveys positively and effectively, as well as working with local fieldwork suppliers – from training teams at museums and galleries across the UK & Sweden, to training and working alongside a team of commercial interviewers to carry out complex interview and observation methodologies at the Alamo in Texas.
More recently, I’ve worked as a Senior Project Manager for Acumen Fieldwork, helping clients across all sectors to design and implement the right fieldwork methodology and scope for their research goals, and delivering online and offline research on challenging and wide-ranging fieldwork briefs to demanding timelines.
